Mendoza Sax Fest to host Kenny Garrett and receive UNESCO support

The seventh edition of the Mendoza Sax Fest is scheduled to take place from November 20 to 23 in Mendoza, Argentina. This year’s festival has received institutional support from UNESCO and features a diverse lineup of musicians from the United States, France, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, and Argentina.

A major highlight of the event is the first-ever appearance of Grammy-winning jazz legend Kenny Garrett in the province. The American saxophonist, known for his work with Miles Davis and Duke Ellington, will perform with his full band at the Auditorio Ángel Bustelo on Sunday, November 22. He is expected to present material from his 2021 album, ‘Sounds From The Ancestors’.

Directed by saxophonists Mauricio Agüero and Emilio Spitz, the festival serves as a regional hub for the instrument, attracting approximately 300 saxophonists annually for masterclasses, workshops, ensembles, and jams.
