Mendoza schools report 592 incidents following severe storms

Recent storms in Mendoza, Argentina, have caused 592 reported incidents across provincial schools. According to Carlos Daparo, the subsecretary of School Infrastructure, the primary issues include leaks, electrical failures, and access difficulties.

Leaks accounted for approximately 45% of the total incidents, with 267 cases reported. The storms also led to the suspension of classes at 43 establishments, and 33 cases have been flagged as requiring urgent attention. Electrical supply interruptions were responsible for 11% of the complaints, though some were due to broader regional grid issues rather than internal school faults.

Of the approximately 1,500 schools in Mendoza, officials have identified roughly 400 buildings that require various levels of maintenance or major repairs. Geographically, the highest concentration of incidents occurred in Maipú, Guaymallén, and Las Heras, which together accounted for 37% of the total reports.
