Mendoza Senate Approves Reform of Provincial Sports Law

The Senate of Mendoza Province voted to modernize the provincial Sports and Recreation Law, aiming to reduce bureaucracy and introduce digital tools for athletes. The reform, led by Senator Eduardo Martín, originally sought to eliminate the Provincial Sports Council and the physical Sports Identity Document (DID). During debate, lawmakers decided to retain a streamlined version of the council and replace the DID with a digital credential integrated into the “Mendoza por Mí” app.

Additional amendments include updating terminology to refer to “adapted and Paralympic athletes,” and requiring background checks for those working with minors in sports. The changes are pending further review before final passage.
