Mendoza Supreme Court dismisses charges against French rugby players

The Supreme Court of Mendoza, Argentina, has unanimously confirmed the dismissal of charges against French rugby players Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou. The two athletes had been accused of aggravated sexual assault involving an Argentine woman in July 2024, following a match between France and Argentina in Mendoza.

The court's decision follows a previous ruling by Judge Eleonora Arenas in December 2024, who determined that the sexual encounters were consensual and lacked violence. An appellate court in February 2025 also upheld the dismissal, citing a lack of evidence to support a serious accusation.

Natacha Romano, the lawyer representing the complainant, stated that the legal team intends to file an extraordinary appeal with the National Supreme Court of Argentina in Buenos Aires. The complainant had previously argued that the investigation was flawed and that certain expert procedures were irregular.
