Mendoza to hold elections for water inspection authorities

Water users in Mendoza, Argentina, will vote this Sunday, November 1, to elect new authorities for the Inspecciones de Cauce. These representatives will manage the inspections for the 2027 to 2033 period.

The elected officials, including Inspectors and delegates, serve as the essential link between users and the Departamento General de Irrigación. Their responsibilities include the administration and maintenance of secondary and tertiary irrigation channels.

Voting is mandatory for eligible concessionaires registered in the census. Failure to vote results in a fine of 10 Water Fiscal Units (UFA), approximately $12,000, which is automatically charged to the user's account under Law 9595. Eligible voters include titleholders of jurisdictions with more than 1,000 meters and certain surface water permit holders.
