Mendoza to posthumously honor artist Roberto Cascarini
The City of Mendoza will posthumously honor painter Roberto Cascarini with the distinction of ‘Ciudadano Ilustre’ (Illustrious Citizen). The initiative, approved by the Deliberative Council, recognizes Cascarini’s extensive artistic career, pedagogical work, and his contributions to the development of plastic arts in the province.
Cascarini, who lived from 1895 to 1990, settled in Mendoza in 1939 and became a fundamental figure in national arts. He served as the first painting professor at the National University of Cuyo, teaching notable artists such as Carlos Alonso, Luis Quesada, and Orlando Pardo. His prolific career resulted in more than one thousand works, many of which are held by the Municipal Museum of Modern Art of Mendoza and the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts Emiliano Guiñazú-Casa Fader.
The official ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, at 11:00 AM at the Teatro Quintanilla, located in the Plaza Independencia Cultural Space. The event will be attended by municipal authorities, family members, and cultural representatives, and will be open to the public free of charge.
