Mendoza to tender helicopter and medical services for Aconcagua

The Mendoza government has launched a public bidding process to secure helicopter services and medical care for Aconcagua Provincial Park. The initiative aims to ensure operational and preventive continuity for five summer seasons, spanning from 2026/2027 to 2030/2031.

The total investment for these essential services is estimated at approximately 5.95 billion pesos. This includes 3.42 billion pesos specifically for aerial services, which will guarantee 150 flight hours per season, totaling 750 hours over the contract period. The helicopter services will be used for search and rescue, medical evacuations of climbers, and the transport of personnel and supplies for mountain infrastructure, such as shelters and sanitary modules.

In addition to rescue operations, the helicopter will assist in park surveillance, perimeter control, and wildlife protection. A separate component of the funding will cover medical services, including emergency care and preventive clinical controls. The long-term contracts are subject to future budgetary allocations and price adjustment mechanisms.
