Mendoza volunteer firefighters protest for law compliance

Volunteer firefighters from various departments in Mendoza, including Maipú, Rivadavia, and San Martín, protested in front of the Government House to demand the fulfillment of Provincial Law 7679. The demonstrators expressed frustration over the lack of official responses and accused the Minister of Security, Mercedes Rus, of falsely claiming that a dialogue table exists.

Key grievances include the state's failure to provide benefits mandated by law, such as professional driver's license fee exemptions, housing quotas, and educational scholarships. Firefighters also highlighted critical resource shortages, specifically regarding fuel subsidies. Representatives noted that current fuel allocations are insufficient to operate heavy vehicles, which can require up to 180 liters of fuel.

The protest occurred amidst Zonda wind conditions, with officials warning that many areas in the Mendoza territory are currently without adequate firefighting service due to these resource constraints.
