Menlo Park sued by developer over rejected skyscraper project
The developer N17 has filed a lawsuit against Menlo Park, California, following the city council's rejection of a proposed mixed-use skyscraper complex. The project, located at 80 Willow Road, was planned for a 6.7-acre site.
The project is owned by Vitaly Yusufov, the son of former Russian Energy Minister Igor Yusufov. N17 founder Oisín Heneghan claimed the city is one of the most hostile in the nation toward building new and affordable housing, accusing officials of breaking state housing laws to delay and deny the development.
The rejection comes despite warnings from California Attorney General Rob Bonta that the city was violating state housing laws by stalling the plans.
