Football transfers: Players move between Dutch and Belgian clubs
Several football transfer developments have been confirmed involving players moving between the Dutch and Belgian leagues.
KV Mechelen has signed 26-year-old defender Mike Eerdhuijzen from FC Utrecht on a contract lasting until 2030. Eerdhuijzen, a left-footed central defender, joins the Belgian club to bolster the defense following a serious knee injury to Leo Hjelde. Reports suggest the transfer fee may be around two million euros.
SC Cambuur has secured the signing of 31-year-old Belgian midfielder Mathieu Maertens. Formerly a club icon and captain at Oud-Heverlee Leuven, Maertens joins the Dutch side on a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.
In another move, Matteo Dams has officially joined Club Brugge following a stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli. Dams, who previously played for PSV Eindhoven, returns to Belgium after a period in the Saudi Pro League that was marked by significant salary increases.
