Menno van Zwieten, Tjisse Steenstra and Rick Minnesma win PC kaatsen title

Menno van Zwieten, Tjisse Steenstra and Rick Minnesma captured the PC championship, the premier kaatsen tournament held at the Sjûkelân in Franeker. The trio secured twelve of the fourteen matches, outplaying rivals such as Marten Bergsma and Johan Sipma, and claimed the top honors on the day.

Before the official ceremony in Dronrijp, the winners were celebrated in Burgum, where they received a warm welcome from local club members and villagers. Van Zwieten, who has lived in Burgum since June 2025, expressed enthusiasm about the community’s support. Steenstra was crowned “King of the PC” for the fourth time, highlighting his continued dominance in the sport. Minnesma reflected on the dominant performance, noting the lack of pressure after a strong start.

The event underscores the regional popularity of kaatsen in the Netherlands and marks a notable achievement for the three champions within the sport’s annual calendar.
