Menopause impacts emotional health and self-perception

Psychologist Dilara Çiltepe from the Medicana International Ankara Hospital Menopause Wellness Committee states that menopause involves more than just physical and hormonal changes. It can significantly impact a woman's emotional state, energy levels, and self-perception.

Common psychological effects include increased emotional sensitivity, fatigue, and a lack of motivation toward work or social responsibilities. Some women may experience a desire to withdraw from social environments or notice changes in their body image. These shifts can sometimes lead to feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or hopelessness.

Çiltepe emphasizes that these symptoms are often part of the natural menopausal process and can decrease over time. She advises women to be understanding of themselves and to recognize that these experiences are not necessarily permanent. Practicing self-care, such as maintaining sleep patterns, nutrition, and taking mental breaks, is recommended to support psychological well-being.
