Menopause impacts women's physical health and workplace integration

Menopause presents both physiological and professional challenges for women. Physically, the decline in estrogen can lead to sarcopenia, a condition where muscle mass and strength decrease more rapidly than they can be rebuilt. To mitigate this, experts suggest avoiding common dietary errors such as insufficient protein intake, concentrating protein consumption in a single meal rather than distributing it across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or following overly restrictive low-calorie diets that cause the body to consume muscle tissue for energy.

In the professional sphere, menopause symptoms like hot flashes, insomnia, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating can impact workplace performance. Addressing these issues is increasingly viewed as a matter of corporate culture and inclusive welfare rather than a purely private concern. Failing to support women during this phase can lead to the loss of valuable human capital and expertise, as employees may avoid seeking necessary workplace adaptations due to fear of stereotypes regarding their reliability or energy levels.
