Menopause linked to blood pressure shifts in new study

New research has identified a potential universal link between the menopause transition and shifts in blood pressure. A study led by Madeleine Getz examined women from two vastly different environments: the Tsimane community in Bolivia, a highly active foraging-horticulturalist group, and women in the United States.

Despite the significant differences in diet, physical activity levels, and lifestyle between the two populations, researchers observed associations between menopause and blood pressure changes in both groups. This suggests that blood pressure shifts during menopause may be a shared biological pattern, though the magnitude of these changes may be influenced by an individual's specific environment and lifestyle.
