Menopause Management Gains New Options: Masturbation Study Shows Benefits, New Hampshire Clinic Offers Testosterone
A new study of roughly 1,200 U.S. women aged 40‑65, published in the journal *Menopause*, found that regular self‑pleasure during perimenopause was linked to significant relief of common symptoms. Participants rated masturbation's effectiveness at 4.35 / 5, higher than the 4.2 rating for hormone therapy, and nearly half reported improvement in mood, sleep, vaginal dryness, or hot flashes. Only 14 % of women said they used masturbation for symptom control, and just 7 % recalled a doctor mentioning it.
At the same time, a nurse‑practitioner in New Hampshire’s JSJ Aesthetics & Wellness is offering bioidentical testosterone as part of a broader hormone‑replacement regimen for menopausal patients. She cites symptoms such as brain fog, joint pain, irritability, low libido and mid‑section weight gain. The FDA currently has no approved testosterone product for women, so the clinic uses pellet implants placed in back fat and monitors hormone levels every five weeks. This service reflects growing interest following the FDA’s November 2025 removal of the black‑box warning on estrogen therapy.
