Menopause research expands to address health and workplace impacts
New research and academic initiatives are focusing on the complexities of menopause and its impact on women's lives. A scientific collection has been launched to encourage original research into the physiological mechanisms, treatments, and management strategies for menopause, aiming to address symptoms like osteoporosis and bladder issues.
In Australia, the AMY (Australian Women’s Midlife Years) study, a large-scale community survey of over 8,000 women aged 40 to 69, is providing data on midlife health. Findings presented by Dr. Sue Davis at the International Menopause Society Congress in Rio highlight the need to understand how menopause symptoms intersect with workplace challenges, including ageism and family burdens, to develop better recommendations for women in their 40s and 50s.
