Menopause research focuses on brain health and symptom management

Research is expanding into the neurological and physiological impacts of menopause. Neuroscientist Caitlin Taylor from the University of California, Santa Barbara, is leading efforts to understand how the plummeting levels of estrogen and progesterone affect the brain during perimenopause and early post-menopause. To facilitate this, the Longitudinal Menopause Project will utilize brain imaging, blood tests, and symptom tracking to study women aged 40 to 55, aiming to improve clinical care recommendations.

In addition to medical research, there is a growing interest in holistic and natural approaches to managing symptoms. Many individuals are seeking supplements, including those rooted in Ayurveda, to alleviate common issues such as hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances, often as an alternative to synthetic hormone therapies.
