Menopause symptoms and the need for individualized medical care

Menopause and perimenopause can cause a wide range of symptoms, including vaginal dryness, urinary issues, sleep disturbances, and mental fog. The decline in estrogen affects the thickness, elasticity, and hydration of genital tissues, potentially leading to the genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM).

Despite the prevalence of these symptoms, many women do not discuss them with healthcare professionals, often viewing them as an inevitable part of aging. Research, such as the REVIVE study, has indicated that a significant portion of symptomatic women do not initiate conversations about these issues with doctors.

Medical specialists, including Dr. Myriam Sacchetti, emphasize the importance of individualized approaches and comprehensive testing. Currently, many women face a therapeutic journey involving multiple practitioners before receiving an accurate diagnosis or appropriate treatment, such as hormone replacement therapy or nutritional supplements.
