Menorca authorities approve vehicle access restrictions

The PP and PSOE have reached an agreement in the Consell regarding regulations to limit vehicle access in Menorca. The approved project will now proceed to the Parlament for implementation, with a target start date in 2027.

The final text maintains much of the original proposal from President Adolfo Vilafranca's government but introduces a rule of reciprocity for residents of other Balearic Islands. Specifically, exemptions for vehicles from Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera will only apply if those islands also allow free entry for Menorcan residents.

The agreement was achieved with support from the four PSOE councilors, despite opposition from Maite de Medrano and two councilors from Més.
