Menorca political parties doubt 2027 vehicle restriction timeline

Political representatives from the PSOE and Més per Menorca have expressed skepticism regarding the timeline for implementing vehicle restrictions in Menorca. While the governing PP party maintains that these limitations will be in place by 2027, leftist leaders argue that legislative hurdles and a lack of political will may delay the process significantly.

Eduardo Robsy of the PSOE noted that the proposal must first undergo law changes and parliamentary approval, suggesting it is unlikely to be implemented as early as next year. Més per Menorca has also criticized the government, suggesting that the current legal modification process serves as an excuse to postpone necessary environmental measures. The groups contend that the existing Biosphere Reserve Law should have already empowered the Consell to restrict vehicle access.
