Menorca self-employed workers to receive medical leave aid
The Government of the Balearic Islands has allocated 600,000 euros to provide financial assistance to self-employed workers in Menorca during medical leave. Under this measure, workers can receive up to 1,000 euros to compensate for up to two months of Social Security contributions.
While state legislation already provides for an exemption from these contributions starting from the third month of leave, this regional initiative aims to alleviate the immediate financial burden during the initial period of convalescence. Although the aid does not cover lost revenue from unpaid invoices or ongoing business expenses such as rent and taxes, it is intended to provide relief for the approximately 109,549 self-employed individuals operating within the Balearic Islands.
