Menorca to launch cultural travel program for seniors

The Consell de Menorca is developing a dedicated cultural travel program for retirees and pensioners to address connectivity challenges faced by residents when using the national Imserso tourism program. Due to the limited number of direct destinations available from Menorca, the local government aims to provide more accessible and affordable alternatives.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare, will focus on cultural excursions and exchanges between choral groups. Mallorca has been selected as the primary initial destination. While the program seeks to help seniors explore the Balearic archipelago, Ibiza is currently excluded from the first phase of the project.

Carmen Reynés, the Councilor for Social Welfare, stated that the framework for the public tender is expected to be ready by September. The program is modeled after a successful initiative in Mallorca and aims to promote local gastronomy and regional products through these organized trips.
