Men's afro and curly hair trends emphasize personalized styling

Modern hair styling techniques are offering men with curly and afro-textured hair more versatility beyond traditional short cuts. According to Paulo Silva, CEO of the barbershop chain Black Zone, contemporary trends focus on personalization through texturizing and specific cutting methods.

A fundamental element in modern afro hairstyles is the fade, which features shaved sides that gradually increase in volume toward the top. Popular variations include the midi fade, which sits between a low and high fade, and the flat top, a retro style characterized by a high, squared top. Other trending styles include the midi fade with freestyle elements like shaved lines or dreads, and the nudred style, which utilizes specific texturizing to create small knots or twists.
