Men's health: Managing erectile dysfunction and prostate enlargement

Medical experts are highlighting management strategies for common male urological conditions, specifically erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

For erectile dysfunction, specialists suggest that while lifestyle changes and medication are primary treatments, surgical options such as inflatable or malleable penile implants may be necessary when drugs are ineffective. Because erectile dysfunction can be linked to cardiovascular health, professional diagnosis is recommended to identify underlying physical or psychological causes.

Regarding prostate enlargement, which affects an increasing number of men as society ages, experts note that the shape and texture of the prostate are often more critical to urinary symptoms than its absolute size. While medication can manage symptoms, patients with significant obstruction may require endoscopic procedures or surgery. Lifestyle adjustments, such as limiting fluid intake before sleep and improving diet, are recommended as foundational management tools.
