Menstrual cramps as a potential indicator of gynecological disease

Menstrual cramps, while common, can sometimes indicate underlying medical conditions. While primary dysmenorrhea is typically related to uterine contractions during a cycle, intense pain or changes in pain patterns may be linked to conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, or fibroids.

Medical experts suggest that women should seek gynecological investigation if the pain interferes with daily routines, such as work or study, or if the intensity of the cramps increases over time. Other warning signs include pain during or after sexual intercourse and the presence of accompanying symptoms like fatigue or intestinal changes.
