Mensur Suljović faces investigation after Swiss Darts Trophy controversy

Austrian darts professional Mensur Suljović is facing investigation by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) following a controversial match against Ross Smith at the Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel.

During their last-16 encounter, Suljović was accused of inciting the crowd to boo Smith while the Englishman was throwing match darts. Suljović eventually won the match 6-5. In a subsequent on-stage interview, Suljović made comments regarding Smith's complaints, stating, “Women complain, sorry. You don't do that.”

Following the backlash, Suljović issued an apology, stating he was “really caught up in the emotion of the moment” and admitted his remarks about women were “completely inappropriate.” Ross Smith criticized the behavior on social media, describing Suljović as an “absolute idiot,” though he noted he did not blame the player for the loss itself.
