Mental health awareness initiatives held during Yellow September

Various regions are conducting awareness sessions as part of the ‘Setembro Amarelo’ (Yellow September) campaign, which focuses on suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

In Tarouca, Portugal, the municipality held an awareness session at the Adácio Pestana Municipal Auditorium. The event featured psychologist Gabriela Kiefe from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), who discussed recognizing warning signs and the importance of psychological literacy. Local officials emphasized the need to break the silence surrounding mental suffering.

In Caldas, Brazil, the Municipal Health Secretariat organized the 1st ‘Laços que Sustentam a Vida’ (Bonds that Sustain Life) Seminar. The event brought together professionals from health, education, sports, and social assistance to discuss integrated care networks. Participants, including psychologists and psychiatrists, highlighted that mental health promotion is a collective responsibility requiring coordinated action between different social sectors.
