Mental health awareness initiatives held in Sierra Leone and Maldives

In Sierra Leone, Orange Sierra Leone partnered with the Ministry of Health to commemorate World Mental Health Day 2026. The collaboration included a national awareness walk from Youyi Building to Family Kingdom in Freetown, an employee sensitization programme, and support for the National Mental Health Symposium. The initiative aimed to increase public understanding of mental health, reduce social stigma, and encourage individuals to seek professional medical assistance.

In the Maldives, the Maldives National University (MNU) Hithadhoo Campus hosted a mental health programme titled ‘A Little Space to Feel’. The event featured interactive spaces for reflection, reading, and creative expression, such as the ‘Soft Landing Library’ and a ‘Pocket Post Office’ where students exchanged handwritten notes of encouragement. The programme led to student requests for permanent relaxation and reading areas on campus.
