Mental health awareness requires more than a single day

In observance of World Mental Health Day on October 10, Arild Gregor Kharchuk Furfjord, a political deputy leader at the UiT Student Parliament, argues that mental health awareness requires more than annual symbolic gestures.

While acknowledging the value of social media campaigns in building trust and spreading empathy, Furfjord suggests that mental health support should not be limited to temporary social media posts. He emphasizes the importance of sustained, everyday actions, such as engaging in genuine conversation, noticing those who are isolated, and showing empathy to strangers and acquaintances alike to combat social polarization and loneliness.
