Mental Health Awareness Weeks feature art and wellness activities in France
As part of the 37th edition of the Mental Health Information Weeks (SISM) 2026, various activities are being held across France to promote psychological well-being through art and relaxation.
In Mamoudzou, Mayotte, the ‘Rencontre des Arts’ was held at Place de la République. The event featured exhibitions and demonstrations in painting, sewing, drawing, singing, and dance. Organized to highlight the benefits of creativity, the event showcased works from members of Mutual Aid Groups (GEM). In Mayotte, four GEMs currently support approximately 300 people. Organizers noted that artistic expression serves as a vital communication tool for those facing psychological difficulties and can aid in social connection and professional integration.
In Alençon, the Museum of Fine Arts and Lace is hosting a series of wellness workshops running through October 18, 2026. The program includes parent-child relaxation sessions, sound relaxation, sensory exploration of artworks, sophrology, and Qi Gong. These workshops, led by various professionals and associations, aim to provide moments of calm and serenity for both children and adults.
