Mental health demand rises amid growing focus on anxiety and childhood well-being

Mental health concerns and the demand for professional psychological support have seen a significant increase following the pandemic. Experts highlight a growing public discourse regarding anxiety, depression, and emotional well-being.

In Argentina, the Konex Foundation recognized specialists including Gabriela Dueñas, Marisa Punta Rodulfo, Alicia Stolkiner, Fernando Urribarri, and Hugo Vezzetti for their contributions to understanding psychological suffering and social care policies. Gabriela Dueñas has specifically advocated for an integral approach to childhood mental health, cautioning against the excessive medicalization of children and adolescents in favor of addressing social and family contexts.

Concurrently, the Centro de Integración Juvenil (CIJ) has reported a sustained rise in individuals seeking professional guidance. Dominique Torres Reynoso, director of the CIJ, noted that while adults make up the majority of those seeking help, there is a notable presence of minors. Key risk factors identified include lack of parental supervision due to long work hours, excessive unsupervised technology use, and substance consumption.
