Mental health discussions focus on digital era challenges in Romania
At the second Mental Health in the Digital Era Conference, Mirabela Grădinaru emphasized the necessity of destigmatizing mental health conversations. She highlighted the importance of creating safe environments for children to express vulnerability and noted that technology, such as smartphones and social media, is an inherent part of their lives rather than a temporary phenomenon. Grădinaru suggested that instead of focusing on keeping children away from technology, society should focus on helping them live healthily within a technologically integrated world.
In related developments within the Romanian mental health sector, the platform Calmly has been nominated for the “Excellence in Mental Health Services” category at the 2026 Psychologist Gala. The platform, which connects users with evidence-based psychotherapists, was recognized for its efforts in modernizing access to psychological support through technology. The nomination follows a selection process by participants of the National Congress of Clinical Psychology.
