Mental health initiatives focus on local services and conscious parenting
Discussions regarding mental health support and psychological well-being are gaining traction in Italy, focusing on both individual parenting strategies and local institutional services.
In Ascoli, a proposal is being considered to implement a primary care psychologist service. Rather than a direct municipal service, the initiative aims for a collaborative model involving the municipality, local health authorities, and the Order of Psychologists. The goal is to early-intercept stress, social isolation, and relational difficulties by integrating psychological support with general practitioners, social services, and schools.
On an individual level, experts are emphasizing the importance of conscious parenting. Psychologist Luigi Pietroluongo suggests that parents should avoid simply reacting against their own upbringing. Instead, they are encouraged to develop a unique, conscious educational style based on the actual needs of their children rather than attempting to correct their own childhood experiences through their offspring.
