Mental health initiatives launched for youth in Argentina and Mexico

In Cañadón Seco, Argentina, local authorities organized a mental health and sports workshop led by sports psychologist Juan Cruz Yapura. Held during Suicide Prevention Month, the initiative targeted children, adolescents, and athletes to address emotional management, competition skills, and the importance of social support networks within sports.

In Mexico, Eduardo Sánchez Lara, a clinical psychology graduate from the University of Guanajuato, has been selected for the ‘Rumbo a Costa Rica’ international exchange program. His project, ‘Apaseo Escucha’, focuses on a community strategy to prevent self-harm and promote mental health among youth aged 12 to 29 in Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato. The twelve-month plan aims to directly benefit 500 young people through workshops and training for mental health ambassadors.
