Mental health initiatives launched in Argentina and Mexico

In Concordia, Argentina, the Administrator Commission for the Salto Grande Special Fund (CAFESG) concluded a training cycle focused on the mental health of children and adolescents. The program, titled “Mental Health of Childhood and Adolescence in Current Contexts,” aimed to provide teachers, students, and community leaders with tools to address issues such as suicide prevention, bullying, emotional education, and problematic consumption, including virtual gambling.

In Saltillo, Mexico, the municipal and state governments of Coahuila introduced ‘CONTIGO,’ a digital platform designed for the prevention and monitoring of suicide. Developed following a statistical diagnosis of suicide rates between 2018 and 2024, the tool allows for the creation of unified patient files to coordinate responses between various municipal and state health and security agencies. Local officials noted that Saltillo’s suicide rate of 10.46 per 100,000 inhabitants exceeds the national average of 6.8, making the platform a priority for public policy.
