Mental health issues impact productivity in Argentina

A report by TELUS Health and Aon, known as the Mental Health Index, reveals that nearly 30% of workers in Argentina report that their mental health negatively affects their productivity. For these individuals, the loss of productivity averages 49 working days per year, compared to 23 days for those who do not report such issues.

Argentina scored 60.1 out of 100 on the index, the lowest among the ten countries surveyed, falling below the regional average of 64.9. The study indicates that 88% of workers fall into a moderate or high-risk profile. Key stressors include personal finances, with 42% citing them as a primary source of stress and 54% reporting a lack of emergency savings.

The report highlights the phenomenon of presenteeism—working while feeling unwell—as a significant invisible cost to organizations. Approximately 79% of employees in Argentina report going to work at least one day a week feeling physically or mentally unwell.
