Mental health trends in Poland: rising police interventions and psychotherapy guidance

Recent data indicates a significant rise in police interventions involving individuals with mental health disorders. Statistics show a steady increase from approximately 89,000 interventions in 2022 to over 122,000 in 2025, with more than 101,000 recorded by 2026. These situations require high levels of professionalism, empathy, and psychological resilience from officers to ensure the safety of the individual, the public, and the responders.

In the context of mental health care, guidance is provided on selecting appropriate psychotherapists. Key criteria for choosing a specialist include verifying their education and qualifications—ideally a master's degree followed by four years of accredited training—and understanding their therapeutic approach, such as cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, or systemic therapy. Specialization and personal rapport are also noted as essential factors for effective treatment.
