Turkey's regional agriculture offices convene development meetings

Local agriculture authorities in Turkey gathered officials, producers and agency representatives to review and plan rural development projects. In one provincial meeting coordinated by the Agriculture and Forestry Directorate, participants from the Black Sea Development Agency, livestock breeders, chambers of agriculture and veterinary bodies discussed the status of projects supported by DOKAP, TULİP, OKA and local administrations, highlighted achievements, addressed implementation challenges and brainstormed ideas for new initiatives aimed at increasing production capacity and farmer incomes.

In the district of Menteşe, the district Agriculture and Forestry Directorate chaired general assemblies for two agricultural development cooperatives. The meetings provided information on rural development grants, the electronic b‑prescription system for veterinary medicines and current Ministry of Agriculture programmes, emphasizing how cooperatives can better access support and strengthen their organisational structures.

Separately, the provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorate conducted field inspections ahead of the new fig season in Aydın’s İncirliova district. Officials, including the provincial director, municipal mayor and plant health officers, examined fig orchards, assessed fruit quality and market conditions, and offered guidance on pest management and proper harvesting practices to sustain the region’s EU‑protected fig production.
