Menteşe Municipality contests land transfer to Mihrişah Valide Sultan Foundation

Menteşe Municipality has announced it will launch legal and administrative proceedings to contest the registration of six parcels of land to the Mihrişah Valide Sultan Foundation. The affected area includes the Konakaltı İskender Alper Cultural Center, a site used extensively for municipal services, wedding ceremonies, council meetings, seminars, and various educational courses.

The municipality stated that the registration took place as of September 18, 2026. In a formal statement, the local government emphasized that the center serves as a vital part of the district’s social and cultural memory. Officials declared their intention to protect these public spaces, describing themselves as trustees of the community’s shared assets and the city’s collective future.
