Menteşe Municipality launches flag campaign for Victory Day

Menteşe Municipality has launched a city-wide campaign titled ‘Every Household a Flag, the Same Pride in Every Window’ ahead of the August 30 Victory Day celebrations. Starting August 18, the municipality will distribute Turkish flags free of charge from its headquarters to residents, shopkeepers, and businesses.

The initiative follows a recent incident in Menteşe where a Turkish flag was set on fire in front of a business. Following that event, Mayor Gonca Köksal Aras condemned the act, stating that the flag is a symbol of common honor. The Mayor noted that the campaign aims to transform local sensitivity into a unifying action, stating, ‘Our strongest answer will not be to grow anger, but to unite more tightly under our crescent and star flag.’

Participants are encouraged to decorate their homes, balconies, and workplaces and share photos using the hashtag #HerPenceredeAynıGurur. Selected images will be featured on the municipality’s social media accounts.
