Menteşe murder-suicide: Former couple found dead in Muğla

A murder-suicide occurred in the Menteşe district of Muğla, Turkey, involving a young woman, Berfin Zelal Kaya, and her former partner, Mehmet Akkaya. The incident took place in an apartment in the Kötekli neighborhood around 03:00.

Authorities were alerted after Kaya failed to show up for work. Upon entering the residence with the assistance of a locksmith, police discovered both individuals deceased from gunshot wounds. Preliminary investigations suggest that Akkaya shot Kaya before taking his own life with an unlicensed handgun. The two had reportedly ended their relationship approximately five months prior.

Kaya, originally from the Arguvan district of Malatya, is scheduled to be buried in her hometown on Wednesday, September 2.
