MEO to modernize 209 mobile network stations in Madeira

MEO has announced a major modernization program for its mobile network in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The project involves upgrading 209 stations and performing 727 expansions, with a scheduled completion date of September 2027. This initiative aims to enhance the quality, capacity, coverage, and availability of 4G and 5G networks across the region.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, MEO is strengthening its ties to the local innovation ecosystem. The company has formalized its reintegration into the DTIM (Regional Association for the Development of Information Technologies in Madeira). This partnership focuses on joint initiatives in professional training, digital literacy, and human capital development.

Furthermore, MEO has established cooperation protocols with the University of Madeira. These agreements are designed to promote curricular internships and joint training initiatives in strategic technological areas, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and the business sector while fostering local digital talent.
