MEPSO faces scrutiny over 19.3 million euro loss
The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) has called for transparency and institutional accountability regarding a reported 19.3 million euro loss at the Macedonian Electricity System Operator (MEPSO). The party claims that during a pre-arbitration procedure before the Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB), MEPSO lost a significant portion of a dispute to the company Energoinvest.
The matter is expected to proceed to arbitration, where the state-owned enterprise must defend its position. BDI has also raised concerns regarding a new multi-million euro contract signed by MEPSO with a consortium led by Dalekovod, which includes companies from Belgrade and Banja Luka.
The party is demanding answers on who authorized the termination of the previous contract and who assessed the legal and financial risks. BDI has publicly addressed the Public Prosecutor's Office and the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, requesting information on whether any investigations have been opened regarding the financial damage and the decision-making processes involved.
