Meralco PowerGen Corporation expands workplace inclusion and Cebu explores modular energy
Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) is integrating sustainability and inclusion into its workplace culture through physical office redesigns and expanded employee benefits. The company has implemented low-partition workstations, shared social spaces, and all-gender restrooms. Additionally, MGEN has extended medical coverage to same-sex and common-law partners to foster a more inclusive environment.
In Cebu, provincial officials are advocating for a shift away from large, centralized power plants toward small-scale, modular energy systems to address long-term power reliability. Dr. Brian To, a senior consultant-adviser to the provincial government, highlighted a pilot project involving hydrogen power technology conducted in partnership with the Singapore government. This hydrogen initiative, which is currently in a trial phase, aims to potentially reduce energy costs significantly compared to traditional sources.
