Meram Municipality provides 128 million TL in social aid

Meram Municipality in Konya has provided 128,053,500 TL in social support through its ‘Social Card’ program during the first eight months of 2026. The program received 4,948 applications, with eligible families receiving payments of 4,000, 5,000, or 6,000 TL based on household size for periods of 3, 6, or 12 months.

On average, 3,246 families receive monthly support via the card, which allows them to shop at various local businesses according to their own priorities. Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş stated that the initiative aims to allow citizens to determine their own needs while ensuring assistance is delivered in a way that preserves their dignity. The municipality also collaborates with local neighborhood heads (muhtars) to reach those hesitant to apply.

In addition to financial aid, the municipality manages a program to distribute new and usable second-hand goods to families who have lost belongings due to fires, floods, or other emergencies. In 2026, this program provided 355 items and medical supplies to 55 families.
