Merangin Police Station attacked by Suku Anak Dalam members

Members of the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community, led by Temenggung Jang, attacked the Merangin Police Station in Jambi, Indonesia, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The group arrived in two waves, armed with sharp weapons and homemade firearms, including traditional 'kecepet' rifles.

The confrontation was triggered by the police detention of two individuals suspected of participating in illegal gold mining (PETI) in Sungai Ulak Village. During the second wave of the attack, the group reportedly entered the police headquarters area and fired shots into the air, leading to physical altercations with officers on duty.

Police spokesperson AKP Sakirman stated that the group may have been providing support for or profiting from the illegal mining activities. Following the incident, Merangin Police have increased security readiness and are coordinating with relevant agencies handling the SAD community to pursue legal action against the attackers.
