Mercado Libre ecosystem contributed US$ 5.4 billion to Argentina's GDP

Mercado Libre has released its ‘Efecto MELI’ report, detailing the economic and social impact of its ecosystem in Argentina during 2025. The platform's activities generated more than US$ 5.4 billion in added value, representing approximately 1% of Argentina's GDP.

The ecosystem supported 126,500 direct and indirect jobs. According to the report, more than 3.5 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs operated on the platform in 2025, with nearly 42,000 new sellers joining throughout the year. Notably, for 67% of these sellers, Mercado Libre served as their first experience with online sales.

The report also highlights a significant trend in technology adoption, noting that nearly half of the SMEs selling on the platform utilized artificial intelligence tools for the first time in 2025. Common uses included improving product images and creating video content.
