Mercado Libre reports significant economic impact in Mexico

Mercado Libre has released a study detailing its economic and logistical impact in Mexico, referred to as the ‘MELI Effect’. The company reported operating 138 logistics centers in 2025, with a presence in 67 localities across 31 states and over 8,360 delivery and pickup agencies throughout the country.

The ecosystem's direct and indirect impact on the Mexican economy was estimated at over 106.4 billion pesos, representing approximately 0.4% of the national GDP. The platform supported more than 220,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) last year. For 68% of these businesses, the platform provided their first online sales experience, while 51% now use it as their primary sales channel.

Additionally, the study noted that two out of three SMEs reached new commercial territories through the platform, and 47% utilized artificial intelligence for the first time via Mercado Libre's tools.
