Mercado San José to host heritage gastronomy event

The Mercado San José will host the “Queso, Papa, Frutilla y Vino, Patrimonio Josefino” event this Saturday, October 3. Part of the Heritage Day celebrations, the free event aims to connect local producers with consumers.

Key activities include the Third Departmental Cheese Competition, held in collaboration with the Uruguayan Association of Dairy Technicians. The program also features culinary demonstrations, including strawberry preparations by Daysi Borges, modern potato dishes by chef Rosa Andrade, and a session by cook and communicator Hugo Soca.

The event will conclude with prize giveaways for the cheese competition winners—who may participate in a business meeting in Rivera on November 10—and a musical performance by the group Frutilla.
