MercadoLibre stock draws investor attention ahead of Q2 earnings

MercadoLibre (NASDAQ:MELI) has seen its share price fall about 25% from recent highs, prompting mixed reactions from investors. The e‑commerce and fintech platform, which operates in 18 Latin American markets, reported strong double‑digit revenue growth but a 20% drop in operating income and a narrowing margin in the first quarter. Analysts note that the company will report its second‑quarter results on Aug. 5, and The Motley Fool argues the stock may be a long‑term bargain despite short‑term profit pressure.

Institutional investors are also adjusting their positions. Axiom Investment Management LLC disclosed a new holding of 1,277 shares worth roughly $2.2 million, making MELI its 15th largest position. Other firms such as Laird Norton Wetherby Wealth Management, Interchange Capital Partners, Cornerstone Select Advisors, Mitchell Capital Management and Strategic Advisors have modestly increased their stakes. Meanwhile, analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Barclays have lowered their price targets for the stock, reflecting concerns over profitability while maintaining neutral to overweight ratings.
